Giorgi Gocholeishvili Scout Report: Four Countries, Three Titles and a Cádiz Stop

Giorgi Gocholeishvili’s career is that of a right-back who has played in four different countries in three years. Saburtalo in Georgia, Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine, Copenhagen in Denmark, Hamburg in Germany and now Cádiz in Spain. That spread can be read as a sign of instability, but the data says something else: he played at every club he went to and lifted trophies at three of them. This report discusses what the 25-year-old right-back has accumulated from his chain of loans, and what his new stop in the Segunda División could add to the file.

The frame: born 14 February 2001 in Kutaisi, 1.78 m tall. He came through the FC Saburtalo Tbilisi academy and scored 8 goals in 69 league matches for Saburtalo between 2020 and 2022, part of the squad that won the 2021 Georgian Cup. He joined Shakhtar Donetsk in 2023, recording 31 league appearances and 1 goal, and was in the squad for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 Ukrainian Premier League titles. In 2024-25 he played on loan at Copenhagen, scoring 1 goal in 21 Danish Superliga matches and contributing to the club’s league and cup double. In 2025-26 he was again on loan, at Hamburger SV; his Bundesliga appearance count is listed as 24 in the Wikipedia league table and 27 in a Spanish agency report. On 20 August 2026 Cádiz announced a loan agreement with Shakhtar including a purchase option. He has 20 senior caps for Georgia and wore number 13 in the EURO 2024 squad; at U21 level he scored 1 goal in 11 matches.

Two or three uninterrupted seasons at one club would produce data that shows his true level more clearly.

Contract Situation

Gocholeishvili’s registration belongs to Shakhtar Donetsk. Cádiz officially announced a loan agreement with a purchase option on 20 August 2026. According to the Spanish press, the loan fee is around €200,000 and the purchase option €3.5m; the option becomes mandatory if the club is promoted and the player reaches a set number of appearances, and the club can also exercise it voluntarily. It should be noted that these conditions were not detailed in the official club statement. The expiry date of his Shakhtar contract could not be clearly verified in public sources.

Career Projection

This is no longer a potential file but an established-profile file. The deciding variable for the next twelve months is Cádiz’s season: if promotion happens and he plays regularly, the option structure could take him to a permanent club and to La Liga, ending a four-year loan cycle. If promotion does not happen, a return to Shakhtar and another loan come back onto the table. In both scenarios, his place in the Georgia national team remains a constant that keeps him visible.
