Senegal’s No.1 Yehvann Diouf: the long road from Reims to Nice | Gegen Pres

Gegen Pres is GegenSports’ scout-file series working through national-team squads shirt
number by shirt number. File one: Yehvann Diouf, the goalkeeper who now owns
Senegal’s No.1 jersey.

Born in Montreuil-sous-Bois on 16 November 1999, Diouf came through at Troyes, joined Stade Reims
on a free in 2019, and served the classic French apprenticeship — reserve football first, the No.1
jersey later. The patience paid: per Transfermarkt he has logged 127 Ligue 1 appearances and
11,385 minutes, a substantial top-flight workload for a keeper who is still 26.

The Nice move

OGC Nice paid around €6.5m on 3 July 2025 and handed him a contract to June 2030 —
a five-year commitment that reads as a long-term plan rather than a stopgap. In 2025/26 he made
26 Ligue 1 appearances and kept goal through Nice’s European campaign, from the
Champions League qualifiers into the Europa League.

Senegal’s succession, settled

A dual French-Senegalese national, Diouf committed to the Lions of Teranga and debuted on
6 June 2025; he wears No.1 in the current squad. With captain Sadio Mané now 34 and a
new midfield generation emerging, goal is one position where Senegal’s transition already looks
resolved. Scouting profile: a line-keeper first — quick to ground, strong hands, low error count —
with a balanced short-and-long distribution game rather than a showy sweeping style. The main open
question is simply high-end European sample size, and that data set has now started to build.
