I cannot recall another Slovak file that climbed this early and this fast in the last decade. I first logged Leo Sauer in the Žilina academy at fifteen; at seventeen he was a senior international and at eighteen he was in a European Championship squad. This report is a current assessment written after the close of his Feyenoord chapter and his first Bundesliga minutes at Stuttgart.

Development Areas
First, continuity. In his regular-starter season at NAC Breda he reached 7 league goals; in his rotation season at Feyenoord output fell to 3 goals in 20 matches. The profile clearly gains efficiency with rhythm.
Second, left-foot use. Once full-backs read the cut-inside, the option of going down the line and crossing with his left foot is the piece the file still needs.
Third, physical contact. The upper-body strength of Bundesliga full-backs is a different standard from his Eredivisie match-ups; this will be the main development item of the first season.
Career Projection
A 20-year-old who moved to the Bundesliga on a five-year deal and whom the club’s sporting board described as having great potential “not just because of his age”. Stuttgart easing him in with short substitute appearances in the opening weeks points to a gradual integration plan. The decisive threshold is whether he enters the starting rotation by the end of the first half of the season. His place with Slovakia is stable, and he will be tracked as one of the national team’s main attacking options in 2026-27.
Contract Status
He joined VfB Stuttgart on 29 July 2026. Open sources report a fixed fee of EUR 15 million, rising to EUR 17 million with add-ons; the clubs did not officially disclose the figure. The contract runs until June 2031. His Feyenoord deal had run to 2028; with the Dutch club he won the Eredivisie (2022-23), the KNVB Cup (2023-24) and the Super Cup.
Evidence of output at international and Eredivisie level at a young age is clear; without Bundesliga minutes it cannot be measured whether the profile scales to this level.
