The surname invites comparison and pressure in equal measure. His father, Gonzalo Sorondo, wore the Uruguay shirt and defended for this same institution, so Francisco grows up inside a defensive tradition rather than discovering it. You see it in the small things: the early scan over the shoulder before the ball arrives, the willingness to step out and meet a dropping forward instead of retreating into the box.
