I tracked Iklas Sanron across the back end of his final season at PT Prachuap and into his opening weeks at Buriram United, and the move up in level has not diminished the traits that first drew me to him. He is a left-footed forward who operates best off the last shoulder, timing his runs late rather than drifting offside early. At Prachuap he was the team's most consistent penalty-box presence despite playing in a side that spent long stretches defending; he found separation with short, sharp movements rather than raw pace, which tells me his instincts are ahead of his athleticism at this stage.
The headline attraction is his finishing on the left side. He strikes across the ball cleanly, favours placement over power, and is comfortable finishing first time from cut-backs. In the matches I watched he took roughly two clear looks per game and converted at a rate that flattered a modest supply line. What I want to stress is that these were not tap-ins; several came under pressure with defenders draped on him, which points to composure that should travel well to a bigger club.
Buriram is a different environment. He will now feed off a dominant possession side that generates far more entries into the box, and the early sessions suggest he understands his role as a runner and a finisher rather than a link man. The open question is whether he can hold the ball under contact against physically stronger centre-backs and whether he adapts to sharing minutes in a deep, competitive squad. In a champion side, patience will be the price of his development.
My overall read is of a natural goalscorer arriving at the right club at the right moment, but one who must prove he can produce when the chances are scarcer and the defenders tougher. If he sharpens his hold-up play and his back-to-goal work, he has the profile of a Thai international forward for the next decade. For now I file him as a high-ceiling finisher whose next twelve months at Buriram will tell us how far the ceiling really is.
