In this region a youth tournament award is the loudest thing a nineteen-year-old can carry, and it is almost never the most useful. I keep a separate list for players whose file peaked before their first professional season, because the Sahel produces them every cycle. Souleymane Alio is on that list, and I am writing this report to explain why he has not yet been taken off it.
The basics. Born 28 October 2006 in Ivory Coast to a Burkinabe father and a Malinke mother, raised into football there before moving to Burkina Faso, where he joined New Stars FC in the third division. He is a forward, wears number 33 at FC Nordsjaelland, and represents Burkina Faso at youth level.
The file was built in Algeria in 2023. At the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations he was named player of the tournament, scoring twice and taking the man-of-the-match award in the semi-final against Nigeria; Burkina Faso lost that tie on penalties to Senegal and finished third after beating Mali in the play-off. He was also nominated in the Best Young Player category at the CAF Awards that November. Two weeks after the nomination, on 21 November 2023, Nordsjaelland announced his signing, to take effect at the end of 2024 when he turned eighteen.
His coach at the time, Brahima Traore, described him as an unselfish striker and explained that he had been developed as a winger and moved to centre-forward on profile. That description matches what I saw in Algeria: a forward who arrives rather than holds, comfortable attacking the space outside the last defender, willing to give the ball up in the box instead of forcing the shot.
What has happened since is the reason this is a holding report, not a recommendation. He joined the senior squad in Denmark in July 2025. Across the 2025-26 Superliga season he recorded two league appearances and twenty-three minutes, no goals, no assists and one booking. He picked up an injury on 13 October 2025 with no firm return date published. Twenty-three minutes is not a sample; it is an absence with a shirt number attached.
So the file stays open on two conditions and neither is about talent. First, fitness: a forward whose value rests on repeat running into the channel cannot be assessed while he is unavailable, and the club's own patience will be measured by whether they loan him out. Second, minutes: a full half-season somewhere he starts - Denmark's first division, a Danish second tier loan, or a return to a francophone West African league - would give me something to grade. Until then the honest position is that this is a 2023 file with a 2026 date on it. I will reopen it the moment he plays ninety minutes twice in a row.
Scout tavsiyesi: Hold on the passive list. The 2023 award is real and so is the profile behind it, but the file has not moved in two years and twenty-three league minutes cannot be graded. Nothing here should be read as a case for or against a move; it is a case for waiting. Two conditions reopen it: a clean return from the October 2025 injury, and a half-season of starts somewhere - Denmark, a second-tier loan, or a return to a francophone West African league. If he plays ninety minutes twice in succession, I will file a fresh report inside a month.
