U21 Radar — Sept 7-13: 6 Foreign Prospects for Turkish Clubs

In this week’s edition of GegenSports’ weekly U21 Radar series, we look at six foreign young players. The criteria stay the same as last week: 21 or under, a traceable contract situation, and a transfer fee/wage level realistic for the middle-to-lower tier of the Süper Lig and the economic reality of the TFF 1. Lig. This week’s list paints a slightly different picture than usual: the summer window closed on 4 September, and one of the six names has already completed a move to a Süper Lig club — so this isn’t a pure “wishlist,” but a mix of a done deal, an unresolved negotiation, and pure watchlist entries.

1) Petar Sukačev — Left-back/Winger, 21, FK Vojvodina

Sukačev is one of Vojvodina’s long-term assets — the deal running to 2029 makes an imminent sale harder, but it also signals the club already sees him as a saleable commodity. In the 2025/26 Super Liga season he made 8 appearances, starting 7 of them, contributing 2 goals and 1 assist in 632 minutes, with a 7.28 average FotMob rating — an unusually high attacking output for a full-back.

Playing style: Not a purely defensive full-back; he likes 1v1 duels on the touchline and looks for overloads in the final third, and being two-footed lets him be deployed on either flank. Vojvodina’s use of width in the Serbian league gives this type of full-back a good environment to develop in.

Fit for a Turkish club: Sukačev suits a Süper Lig side that pushes its full-backs forward and uses the flanks offensively within a back four. Our earlier report on Strahinja Eraković’s loan move to Samsunspor shows the Serbian market is still an active source for Süper Lig clubs; Sukačev fits a similar profile for a team seeking that kind of player, though his contract running to 2029 could make fee negotiations tougher.

2) Elson Mendes da Silva — Defensive Midfielder, 20, Kasımpaşa

The most “already-realised” name on the list. Born in Portugal and capped by Cape Verde’s national team, Mendes moved from France’s Sochaux to Kasımpaşa on 12 June 2026 — so this is a completed case study rather than a target. In his last season at Sochaux (2025/26) he made 31 appearances with 3 goals and 5 assists; his career total sits at 61 games, 6 goals, 3 assists. The length of his Kasımpaşa contract has not been made public.

Playing style: A classic “ball-winning midfielder” who prioritises covering ground and pressing, producing a small but effective attacking contribution. His output at Sochaux (5 assists in 31 games) suggests he’s more than a pure destroyer — he can carry play forward once he’s won the ball.

Fit for a Turkish club: Since Mendes is already at Kasımpaşa, the interesting question isn’t “would he fit” but “how is he being used” — he’s an example of a mid-table Süper Lig side strengthening its midfield balance on a modest fee. 3) Skima Togbe — Defensive Midfielder, 20, FK Novi Pazar

The Ghanaian midfielder is a product of Novi Pazar’s well-known pipeline of bringing in West African talent and selling it on to Europe’s bigger leagues. In 2025/26 he made 24 Super Liga appearances, plus 2 in the Serbian Cup and 1 in the UEFA Conference League — genuine continental experience. No goals or assists show up in his statistics yet — his value is built on balance rather than output. The club’s Nigerian forward Ejike Opara was sold to Portugal’s Vitória Guimarães for €900k just last month, a sign the Novi Pazar showcase model is still working.

Playing style: Rather than relying on physical dominance, he prioritises covering space, winning the ball back and distribution — a No. 6 whose 24 league games plus continental football point to a mature rotation role for his age.

Fit for a Turkish club: A fit for a lower-half Süper Lig side or a play-off-chasing TFF 1. Lig club looking for defensive-midfield balance rather than physical power — the “cheap West African talent via Serbia” formula, where the Elisha Owusu example above remains a useful reference point.

4) Alexandre “Bi” Zaouai — Attacking Midfielder/Winger, 21, SC Bastia

The Ivorian No. 10 made 38 appearances for Bastia in 2025/26, contributing 3 goals and 3 assists. Talks with Konyaspor reportedly reached the “signing stage” in August-September 2026, with negotiations over the fee and payment structure, but no official confirmation had emerged by the time the summer window closed on 4 September 2026. Whether the move went through remains unclear as of this writing — GegenSports’ scouting team will keep tracking this one through the winter window.

Playing style: A creative attacking midfielder capable of playing both wide and centrally, standing out for quick footwork and passing vision; his “Poison” nickname refers to the surprise element he creates against opposing defences.

Fit for a Turkish club: A low-cost creative option for a lower-to-mid-table Süper Lig club looking to make use of Turkey’s young-foreigner incentive. Konyaspor’s move last season for another Ivorian, covered in our report on defender Eric Souleymane Konate, fits the same budget band; Zaouai’s link to the same club can be read as a continuation of that recruitment strategy.

5) Lauri Laine — Left Winger, 21, Inter Turku (on loan from Baník Ostrava)

Laine’s file is a textbook “value drop, so opportunity” case: his market value, which peaked at €890k at the end of 2023, has since slipped below €400k as he struggled to establish himself at a higher level. His parent club Baník Ostrava chose to loan him to Finland rather than use him directly — a sign he could be open to a sale or another loan down the line. In the 2025/26 Veikkausliiga season he saw limited minutes: 3 appearances, 3 starts, 217 minutes, 1 assist, a 6.85 average rating.

Playing style: A left-sided winger built on pace and 1v1 ability, with a tendency to create assists, though his shooting and defensive-contribution numbers remain low as he continues to develop.

Fit for a Turkish club: A low-risk trial for a TFF 1. Lig side looking for a cheap, still-young loan option out of the Czechia-Finland pipeline. 6) Stefan Golubović — Striker, 21, FK Bokelj

Golubović moved to Bokelj from Rudar Pljevlja on 1 July 2025 for a free or nominal fee. His market value has fallen from a peak of €561.6k in August 2024 to around €200k today — a drop that reflects fluctuating form but has also significantly lowered the fee any interested club would need to pay. In 2025/26 he scored 3 goals in 18 appearances for Bokelj; the previous season, in Rudar Pljevlja’s second-tier squad, he scored 5 in 26 games while managing only 2 top-flight appearances. His career total stands at 97 games and 12 goals.

Playing style: At 1.90 m, he stands out for aerial ability and holding up play with his back to goal — a classic target man whose physical presence, rather than pace or technique, is his main asset.

Fit for a Turkish club: A realistic option for a budget-constrained TFF 1. Lig club, or a Süper Lig side fighting relegation, looking for a “risky but high-upside” cheap striker — the drop in his market value has brought any fee negotiation much closer to what Turkish clubs can actually afford.

Overall Assessment

This week’s radar paints a different picture from last week’s: one of the six names (Mendes) had already completed his move to Kasımpaşa mid-summer, another (Zaouai) saw talks with Konyaspor run right up to the window’s close without a confirmed outcome, and the remaining four are still purely watchlist entries. Geographically, the list spans Serbia (Sukačev, Togbe), the Ivory Coast-France pipeline (Zaouai), Cape Verde-Portugal (Mendes), Finland-Czechia (Laine) and Montenegro (Golubović) — five different football ecosystems, a more scattered set of sources than last week’s Balkan- and Nordic-heavy list.

A short update, meanwhile, on Saba Kharebashvili, whom we profiled in a separate scout report: the young Georgian centre-back made his Süper Lig debut in the derby against Galatasaray (Matchday 4, 1-1), coming on in the 63rd minute — the first concrete step for a player whose contract was secured well before he’d played a senior minute.
